Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group - Legal Disclaimer and Liability Information

 

1. The Mid-Atlantic Hiking group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Attending events and becoming a MAHG constituent is voluntary.

 

2. By joining the Mid-Atlantic Hiking group as a constituent or a guest, you agree to hold any and all associated personal and volunteers not responsible in the event of an accident, personal injury, loss of life, destruction or loss of personal property, or any other wrongful act. This includes all Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group volunteers, officers, and the board of directors.

 

3. You also agree to hold all Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group volunteers, officers, and the board of trustees as well as other constituents not responsible. By participating voluntarily as a constituent of the non-profit charitable organization, you expressly waive any and all such claims against each and every other member of the group, including without limitation any and all claims against the group organizer, any other volunteer, officer, board of directors and participating partner organizations, their officers, employees and board of directors involved in the program.

 

4. Mid-Atlantic Hiking group holds a variety of different activities such as, but not limited to, hiking, camping, biking, backpacking, kayaking, snowshoeing, and so on. These events can be dangerous. By participating voluntarily in the events offered by Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group—a nonprofit charitable organization, you understand that you are responsible for your own personal safety.

 

Additional Disclaimer: During a hiking trip, everyone is responsible for themselves. The organizer is not responsible for the safety of the participants. We will try our best to prevent accidents but are not responsible or liable if something happens to you. By joining Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, you acknowledge this.

Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group - Waiver

 

In consideration of your acceptance of my application for participation in the Veterans Hike Across Maryland, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, waive and release any and all claims for damages, for death, personal injury or loss of property I may have, or which may accrue to me as a result of my participation. I discharge and release the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, The Vet Arts Connect program, The Institute for Integrative Health, the Veterans Hike Across Maryland organizers, and its respective agents, committee(s), and any other involved employees, volunteers and representatives from all liability arising out of or connected in any way with my participation in the Veterans Hike Across Maryland whether or not caused by the negligence of any of the above parties. I acknowledge that there are inherent risks and dangers that may arise at any time during the Veterans Hike Across Maryland. My participation is voluntary and is done at my own risk. I voluntarily assume all risks of loss, damage or injury that may be sustained while participating in the Veterans Hike Across Maryland. I attest that I am physically fit and sufficiently trained for the completion of this event. I understand and agree that medical or other services rendered to me by or at the insistence of any of the above parties is not an admission of liability to provide or to continue to provide any such service and is not a waiver of any of said parties of any right hereunder. I understand that serious accidents occasionally occur during hiking events and that participants in the Veterans Hike Across Maryland may sustain mortal or serious injury as a consequence thereof. Nevertheless, I agree to assume those risks and to release and indemnify and hold harmless all the persons mentioned above who might otherwise be liable to me (or my heirs of assigns) for damages, of whatsoever kind or nature. I attest the equipment and clothing I will use in this activity is in good condition, and that I have the experience and ability to complete the activity safely. I understand that proper equipment in good condition can prevent serious injury. I agree to abide by the rules of this event as established by the Veterans Hike Across Maryland committee and to obey the directions of the event officials.

 

I also agree to participate in the pilot study being conducted by Vet Arts Connect, an initiative of the Institute for Integrative Health (a 501c (3) charitable organization).  I will follow the instructions as directed and complete a series of three surveys (pre-test, post-test and final post-test 6 months later) designed to gather data to measure the impact of this activity on the overall health and well-being of participating veterans.

 

I hereby grant full permission to the event organizers, committee(s), volunteers, participating partners and any other involved parties of the foregoing to use photographs, videotapes, motion pictures or any other record of this event, including my name, likeness and/or voice for any legitimate purpose. I have read, understood and agree to the Liability Waiver on this form.
